Illustration: Celtic boar
This was a practice piece to learn how to use a Wacom tablet with Photoshop. I scanned the drawing and layered it over a photograph, which had various filters applied to make it look more like a painting. There was a lot of playing around with different brushes - one layer is called, for example 'bristles', where I used a grass brush to paint hair onto the pig.
I'm not entirely happy with it - the boar still looks like it's floating despite the addition of many layers of shadows and blending, but it was an interesting day.
The original boar drawing I did was based on drawings by George Bain. The background started off as a photograph by Gadget Boy of the Watts Memorial Chapel in Surrey.
